I really appreciate your thoughts and I couldn't agree more...however, I don't think further detox* would really have been the answer for me personally, but for most people I would definitely recommend a cleanse of at least 3 weeks before any kind of diagnosis....Why? because the raw food diet is a detox 24/7 and you see I was 100% raw for 3 years* when I starting suffering from anemia and protein difficiency. I've done colonics, liver cleanses and even have a show and tell area in my freezer where I keep my gall bladder stones from my latest gall bladder cleanse. I think what you are trying to suggest is that perhaps I wasn't powering up enough of a variety of raw foods and in particular superfoods?...alas, back in those days superfoods other than E3-Live which I took religiously were not readily available or even well-known. Anyway anemia is not something to mess around with when you are at the point where you cannot get out of bed and can hardly breathe. You need iron and B-12 pronto. I obtained iron and B-12 mostly with supplements and cooked dark leafy greens. Small doses of organic grass-fed beef's iron rich blood gives me a boost when I needed it (boy! what a boost - pretty wild experience that I wouldn't trade for anything), but I don't think I will need as much or any if I keep eating the way I am eating now (75% raw with cooked greens and fermented seed grains). I would love any additional thoughts you may have on my daily diet. You inspired me to write a new<a href="http://rawjulesrecipes.com/?cat=37" rel="nofollow"> post</a> today. Check it out and let me know if you think I could be adding anything in to boost protein and iron or overall health. Thanks for commenting!

Dear Jules,

I can guarantee you that you where not deficient in rotting petrified mammal flesh. The best way to handle problems you have is to detoxify your body. The best way to do this is to go on a juice feast, get one or two colon cleanses and then a liver flush, all of that while incorporating different live whole food cleansing herbs and supplements such as chlorella and spirulina. Skin brushing, oil-pulling and superfruit juices are also very beneficial for detox. Incorporate determinism and positivism into the recipe and you will be a whole new Jules within 2-3 weeks. =)

Thank you for your encouragement, Pedro. Yes, I just went to a lecture given by the author of China Study, T.Colin Campbell. Throughout his lecture he kept saying, "<em>A plant based diet done right" will prevent cancer and guarantee optimal health</em>...alas, he never said what "a plant based diet done right" looked like. I know I was not doing something right when I was 100% raw, so I left the lecture feeling like I better read his book for more detail. I'd love any input or experiences you'd like to share. - julie

glad to hear that you are sticking to a mostly raw diet. sad to hear that you are ingesting animal-based protein again. Have you read The China Study? If not, please do it ASAP and figure out how to get your protein in a way that works for you BUT from a plant-based origin.

Great content and site. Keep up the great job on educating others about this wonderful lifestyle!

It's amazing what a nice dish you can create with so few ingredients. I'm a big fan of salads so I'll definitely be returning to your site for more!
